Mark Gibson | General Manager

Mark first learned the meaning of “hard work” growing up on a cattle ranch near Ashland, OR. Mark quickly developed a passion for logging and trucking, and his natural propensity for transportation and mechanics led him to form Siskiyou Transportation, Inc. and eventually Timberland Helicopters, Inc. Mark has been the General Manager and Director of Safety at Timberland since 1994, and has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Helicopter Association International (HAI) for two separate terms.


Paul Kirschel | Director of Operations

Paul is happily married with two daughters, and has lived in Southern Oregon since 2005. Paul started his career in 1997 as a Certified Flight Instructor in Sacramento. He then transferred to TEMSCO Helicopters in Juneau, flying year-round throughout Southeast Alaska. He and his family then moved to Las Vegas where Paul served as tour pilot for both Sundance Helicopters and later Maverick Helicopters. Seeking a position which would allow his family to live in the Pacific Northwest, Paul became a utility pilot for Timberland, advancing from the position of utility pilot to Chief Pilot, Check Airman, and currently Director of Operations.


Ben Schumacher | Chief Pilot

Ben Schumacher has been flying as a commercial pilot since 2001 with US and Australian ratings. He has accumulated around 7000 hours of helicopter flight time, mostly in utilities such as: game survey, power line and pipeline patrol and maintenance, firefighting and prescribed burning, precision long line, aerial cinematography and 135 charters. He has been with Timberland since 2007 and is now the Chief Pilot.


Fred Wittlake | Director of Maintenance – Pilot

Fred Wittlake has been the Director of Maintenance at Timberland for 14 years. He has extensive knowledge in maintaining helicopters, especially the Bell 206 Series. Fred attained his Airframe and Powerplant rating in 1981 with an Inspection Authorization in 1986. He has attended Bell and MD Factory Approved Field Maintenance courses and also has been a commercial helicopter pilot for over 30 years with a majority of his flight time working on fires, utilities, and game surveys. Fred has been with Timberland since 1998. (Fred is camera shy, artist rendering is as accurate as possible)


Ryan Corey | Pilot

Ryan’s fascination with all things airborne began with radio-controlled airplanes at age 12. Upgrading to full-scale aircraft at age 16, Ryan eventually found his calling in helicopters, flying for numerous top-notch companies including Specialized Helicopters in Santa Cruz, CA, the Croman Corporation in White City, OR, and TEMSCO Helicopters in Alaska. A CFII-certified flight instructor with over 2000 hours in the cockpit, Ryan has experience flying missions including private charters for the rich and famous, high profile skydiving demonstrations, firefighting, and law enforcement.
